How to Rotate a PDF
Upload Your PDF File
Click the upload area above, or drag and drop your PDF file onto the page. Once uploaded, the total page count is displayed so you can decide which pages to rotate. Your file never leaves your computer.
Choose Rotation Angle and Scope
Three angles to choose from: clockwise 90 degrees (most common — e.g., portrait to landscape), 180 degrees (flip upside-down pages right-side up), or counter-clockwise 90 degrees. You can rotate all pages, or enter specific page numbers to rotate only certain ones — for example, "2, 5-7" rotates only pages 2, 5, 6, and 7.
Rotate and Download
Click "Rotate" and the tool finishes in seconds. Rotation only modifies the page orientation attribute — it doesn't re-render content, so it's extremely fast. Click to download the rotated PDF.
Why Use Online Rotation
Rotation is lossless — it only changes the page orientation attribute. Text, images, layout, and selectable text are all perfectly preserved. Unlike compression, rotation doesn't convert anything to images.
No need for Adobe Acrobat — just open the page and rotate. No page limits, no watermarks.
Free, no sign-up, no uploads — all processing happens right in your browser.
Common Use Cases
Fix scanned orientation — Scanners sometimes output portrait documents as landscape, or vice versa. A quick 90-degree rotation fixes it.
Correct phone-captured documents — Documents photographed on a phone and converted to PDF sometimes end up upside down. Rotate 180 degrees to flip them right.
Fix mixed orientations — Most pages in your PDF are portrait, but a few chart pages are landscape? Use "specific pages" to rotate just those pages.
Pre-process before merging — Before combining multiple PDFs, rotate any wrongly-oriented pages first so the merged result looks clean. Then head to the Merge tool.
Things to Note
- Completely lossless — Rotation only changes the orientation attribute, never re-renders content. Quality is identical to the original.
- Some viewers may cache the old orientation — A few PDF readers remember the previous display orientation. If the rotation doesn't seem to take effect, close and reopen the file.
- Specific page syntax — Same as the split tool: "1-3, 5, 8-10" format with commas separating individual pages and ranges.
- Original file is not modified — Rotation creates a new PDF. Your original file stays exactly as it was.
